Attending the Las Vegas Market this year left me gasping for air. So many wonderful new trends but my absolute favorite is that color is back. The recession took its toll on fashion and home decor. We have survived through nearly 10 years of grey. Not any longer expect to see vibrant colors as well as soft pastels in 2016 as color abounds and once again, evoking optimism and fun back in to interior design.
The first thing you should know about the new interior design trend of color should be that there is no “one color” coming back; Pantone chose some beautiful “colors of the year” if you want a jumping off point. Yet I believe whatever color brings passion back into your life is what you should place in your home. Some great examples can be seen here below.
The second trend is metal; yes there was enough gold to reconstruct the mythical Aztec city El Dorado, but there were all shades of metal to play with and mix together. Nickel, silver, bronze and rose gold made their debut and inspired excitement for these versatile finishes that offer so many creative opportunities.
What is perfect about these three major trends for 2016 is the masculinity of stone and metal mixing with the femininity of color to create a perfect complement, a zen juxtaposition of ting and yang. When you bring these three worlds together in detail it awakens the eye and commands your attention. I am looking forward to using this trio to uplift the homes, hotels and special spaces in my future. I want to come into this new era promoting our design industries new optimism for 2016.
